1st Annual Rally at the Strip: English Mountain Dragstrip in Newport is the location for a new, three-and-a-half-day motorcycle rally, which means it’s got something no other rally can claim: namely, a dragstrip. Participants can make timed runs on their own motorcycle on the dragstrip. Anyone whose bike and gear passes the safety inspection can race their buddy, or just make a pass on their own. Road March for Warriors Benefit Bike Ride: The Road March for Warriors and the University of Tennessee Army ROTC Ranger Company are presenting the 2nd Annual Mountain Man March in Gatlinburg, Tenn. This two-day event is a tribute for all service members who have died in action, with a marathon-length (26.2 miles) and half-marathon (13.1 miles) Mountain Man March and a benefit ride. Children’s Open Door Benefit Ride: Benefit the Children’s Hospital “Open Door” fund for children in need of care while enjoying the wind on your face, a hand of poker or two, raffles, refreshments, and music. Registration for the ride begins at 11 a.m., and the last bike leaves at 1 p.m. Best Hand and Worst Hand prizes will be given to the poker participants. All of the funds raised will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Open Door Fund. The cost is $5 a hand or bring a new toy and get a free hand! Full story »
